Pole Fitness

I have gone from someone who didn't exercise at all to someone with a lot of strength and fitter and healthier than ever. I am so proud of what I have managed to achieve over the years and I never thought I would love an exercise as much as I love everything I do here at Elements.

  • You don’t have to wear shorter shorts for your first lessons but we need the back of the knee exposed please. This is to help you grip onto the pole, which will make it easier to accomplish the moves we teach you. We recommend that you wear a sleeveless or short sleeved top, as fabric and chrome don’t go well together (makes you less grippy) – but, if for any reason you need to wear a long sleeve top for your own comfort or confidence, that’s okay with us!

  • At Elements, we train in barefoot and socks. We encourage you to bring a pair of socks so you have the option, as it can make some moves feel a little smoother. We ask you to please take your shoes off at the door, to protect our beautiful professional dance door.

  • This is really important please, no jewellery. Rings especially will damage our chrome poles and your jewellery too. Stud earrings can stay in but anything dangly like necklaces, hoops, etc, please remove before the class. If you cannot remove your rings, please let your instructor know and we can cover them with some tape.

  • We recommend tying your hair up where possible, just to get it out your way! However, we totally understand that some of you may feel more confident with it down, so do what feels right for you! If you change your mind when you are here, we have hair ties you can help yourself to.

  • Super important, please do not moisturise or apply fake tan, at least 24-hours prior to your lesson. As much as we all love to have a good moisturise, unfortunately it’s not your friend when it comes to pole. If you turn up with moisturiser on, you risk making your pole very slippery and not having a very good class. So, save the moisturiser for after pole class, not before!

Dress code

  • You don’t have to wear shorts – but it really does help. The more skin you have exposed, the more you can grip onto the pole. You can start with longer shorts at first but eventually you’ll have to consider shorter ones to be able to execute more advanced tricks. But, don’t worry about that for now, that’s something to think about further down the line.

  • No, please don’t worry, there absolutely is no weight limit. Our poles are professionally installed and reinforced into the ceiling. They are extremely secure and are studio designed poles, not the portable home ones.

  • There is absolutely no need to do this. Please don’t let this hold you back from coming to class. If losing weight is something you want to do, our classes are a fantastic way to burn calories and improve your fitness – so use it as a reason to start, not something which stops you.

  • We totally understand you may feel nervous about starting a class and want to check it out first but everyone is in the ‘same boat and often feeling exactly the same. Our classes are super friendly, small and personal - we only allow up to 8-participants at a time. So, please be brave and just come join in! If you feel too anxious to join a group class, book in a private lesson to come try it out first.

Frequently asked questions

If you see an Introduction to Pole Fitness course on our timetable, you can just sign yourself in and register for the course. If there are no introductory courses available, you can contact us to join our waiting list and we will let you know when we next have a new beginners course starting. If you already have pole experience, get in touch with us and we can recommend the best class for you.

If you see a time and date which works for you but its at a higher level, if you are willing to have private tuition to learn the level(s) you missed, we can get caught up to join. A typical example of the number of private lessons needed is 2-3 lessons per level. So to join a Level 2 course, you’d need a couple of private lessons to learn the Level 1 content you missed. Learn Pole Fitness

Pole Fitness is our most popular skill to learn (and for good reason!) It’s such a unique and fun workout which is so different from your typical gym class!

We love pole as it’s a very progressive skill - you can see your progress as the weeks go on. That’s why we love to take photos during classes (totally optional) as you can look back and see how far you have come!

Not only is pole fitness great for your physical health, it’s also really good for your mental health and well-being. If you are looking to improve your self image, body confidence and give yourself a little more self love – pole fitness could be exactly what you need! Pole is a great way to connect with your body and move in ways you didn’t even know you could.

You don’t have to have any previous fitness experience or a dance background to start pole lessons with us. Our Introduction to Pole Fitness courses are designed with absolute new beginners in mind and we also offer private tuition too.
